Dr. Gobinda Roy has 20 years of industry and academic experience in academic, corporate world, Start-ups, and social movements. This journey has enriched him with in depth knowledge in Telecom/IT, small business consulting, market research, entrepreneurship, and social mentor ship. As an industry professional, he has worked in the area of Presales, Solution architecting, IT administration, service assurance and IT/network planning. Later he worked as a head in the area of enterprise business solution, program management, business consulting. His involvement in various global telecom/IT projects gave him enough length and strengths to understand global business practices. He has cosulting experience both Industry and Academia as following

Acadmic Consulting Experience (2015-2026):

1) Health care Research (2024-2025) with University of Bradford and IMI Kolkata – collaborative research on “Digital adoption in Health care” – acting as a Co-PI (With Prof Ray and Prof Nag from IMI Kolkata) for research scoping, data analysis, and modelling for research insight and reporting the finding as study in targeting high impact journal

2) Application of GenAI in Pedagogy (2024-2026) – Head of this initiative funded by Block Chain center of Excellence IMI-Kolkata: Development of GenAI applications for effective learning. Report to be summited to QS Reimagine Award 2024. We got patent based on research work.

3) Restaurant rating platform: “Emergence and importance of restaurant rating platform in India” by Wordsmith Star, a leading restaurant rating platform with presence in UK, US, India- awarded us a consulting market project in analyzing stakeholder perception (B2B and B2C) to rating system and overall market trends in India: Duration: 4 months (September to December 2024): Acting as PI (with Co-PI Dr. Paul, Dr. Ray and Dr. Bandyopadhyay)

Industrial consulting experience (1996-2014)

1) Managed 100+ small and medium market research projects for international clients in US, UK, and Australia. (Access to Hoovers, Bloomberg, Zoominfo, IBIS, Euromonitor)

Gobinda's Research experience:

My research career reflects a strong focus on the dynamic interplay between marketing, consumer behavior, and the complex roles of customers' digital adoption across industries such as e-commerce, online retail, smart tourism, and the emerging sharing economy.

2) Consulting and designing Telecom/IT solutions based on state-of-IT network for key accounts (ITC, HDFC, PwC etc): managed 10 key accounts and 50+ SME accounts as solution architects. (Technology- IP/MPLS VPN, IDC, Clarity CRM, WiMax/LTE)

3) Telecom/IT project management in international projects like FLAG, SMW-3, IDC, SAFE working with AT&T, BT, FT, Cisco, NEC etc.

CURRENT RESEARCH PORTFOLIO

My postdoctoral research adopts a mixed-methods approach, leveraging cutting-edge tools and techniques to address critical issues in marketing, consumer behavior, and digital adoption. This research extends beyond electronic word of mouth (eWOM) and online retail, focusing on four key areas:

1. Effect of Digital Advertising Campaigns on Consumer Behavior and Conversion in a Computer-Mediated Environment.
